Walkthrough

(to read the spoiler, select it with your mouse or press "Ctrl+A")
Read the journal.
It says to calculate the distance between Wyoming and Germany using fossil data.
It says the formula can be found in the abstract of a paper by the author, so go ahead and read the abstract.
  It is Distance = - (ln(JC) + 0.75209) / 0.00036
From the Dragon's Tooth journal, we know that JC=shared/(wyoming+germany-shared)
Wyoming has 89, Germany has 54, shared are fossils 25,27,52,56,76,135(total 6)
  So, JC=6/(89+54-6)=0.04380
  So, Distance=-(ln(0.04380)+0.75209)/0.00036=6600
Click on the map at the position 6600 to link to Cretaceous!
